How understanding the brain will let us supercharge AI

Intelligent AI

In the 1980s a small group of researchers challenged the prevailing approach to building Artificial Intelligence and proposed using mathematical models that could learn skills from data. While early AI research focused on hard coding the rules for intelligence in a computer program, it became apparent that such an approach was too inflexible to accurately interpret the real world. If we want to develop machines with the same cognitive abilities as humans, we need to look to how intelligence emerged in the brain.
